Why GC-MS Is the Gold Standard
Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) separates a complex essential oil into its individual constituents (the GC part) and identifies each by its mass spectrum (the MS part). It is the only technique that delivers both quantification (how much of each constituent) and identity confirmation (that the constituent is what the chromatogram says it is). For essential oils — which are chemically complex mixtures of dozens to hundreds of compounds — GC-MS is the gold standard for quality verification and adulteration detection.
What Our Lab Tests on Every Batch
Every batch of Baisifu essential oil is sampled and tested by GC-MS before release. The test profile covers: (1) identity confirmation — the chromatogram is matched against the reference profile for the botanical species; (2) constituent quantification — marker constituents are quantified against established ranges; (3) adulteration screening — known adulterants and synthetic “nature-identical” additions are flagged if present; (4) batch-to-batch consistency — the profile is compared to retained samples from prior batches of the same product.
Beyond GC-MS, every batch is also tested for refractive index, specific gravity, optical rotation, and sensory evaluation. The complete data set is documented in the Certificate of Analysis that ships with the batch.
Retained Samples and Traceability
A retained sample from every batch is archived for 24 months, enabling trace-back in the event of a customer-side quality query. Combined with our contracted-grower traceability (every drum traceable to the grower cluster, harvest window, and distillation batch), the retained-sample archive closes the loop on full chain-of-custody documentation.
